A former Judson Independent School District kindergarten teacher was sentenced to two years probation and sentenced to 30 days in jail Tuesday for an assault she ordered in a classroom.

Cynthia Ambrose, 44, was found guilty by a jury of official oppression in June.

According to trial testimony, Ambrose was called in to assist another teacher who was having disciplinary issues with a kindergarten student.

Ambrose then instructed seven of her students ranging in age from four to six years old to line up and take turns striking the student, trial testimony revealed. When the students did not hit the boy hard enough to suit Ambrose, she encouraged them to hit the boy harder.

The defendant is no longer teaching at Judson. The court ordered Ambrose from being employed or volunteer in any position involving children. The Texas Education Agency has the power to revoke her teaching certification.
