SAN ANTONIO -

Nine local men will have an extra special Father’s Day after being declared new dads at Child Protective Service’s June Adoption Month ceremony held on Friday.

Judges from the Bexar County Children's Court presided over the ceremony, which officially placed 21 children with their forever families.

“They are very loving kids,” said Jorge Bustos, who adopted two boys. “Hopefully, they have a future now ahead of them.”

After the death of his only son three years ago, Bustos said this day was especially significant for him and his family.

“He blessed me with two beautiful boys,” Bustos said.  “I couldn't ask for anything better than that. It's a very special day."

With the upcoming Father’s Day holiday on June 16, the adoption comes at the perfect time.

“To have it official, in front of everybody, it just makes this day, and that upcoming Father's Day, that much more special,” said Matt Hitzeroth, who is already a father of two, but is welcoming a young son to his family.

The children being adopted range in age from 2 months old to 12 years old.
