SAN ANTONIO -

A 32-year-old man is accused of severely beating and pistol whipping a woman he met online.

Neal Rice was arrested Wednesday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, hours after the woman reported the alleged incident to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that the woman told detectives that Rice, who she met online, took her to a nightclub on Jan. 28 in his car.

The woman told detectives that after leaving the club, they got into an argument and Rice began beating her in the face with his fists and a gun, the affidavit stated.

The beating continued, she said, after they arrived at Rice's home in the 2400 block of Maple Crest in north Bexar County, the affidavit stated.

The woman said she was able to call her sister who came and drove her home, the affidavit stated.

She called the sheriff's office the following day to report the incident and get medical help, the affidavit stated.

Deputies who responded said the woman appeared to have suffered severe cuts and bruises to her face.

The affidavit also stated that the woman told detectives Rice had threatened to kidnap her and "pimp her out" if she called police.
