U.S. Border Patrol agents seized more than a ton of marijuana on Monday at the Falfurrias Checkpoint on U.S. Highway 281 North.

A Border Patrol canine unit picked up on the more than 2,200 pounds of pot inside a tractor-trailer.

A mobile x-ray device revealed the narcotics hidden inside crates. When the agents opened the crates, they found concrete benches and bundles of marijuana.

The pot, worth more than $1.7 million, was seized and the driver of the tractor-trailer was arrested.
