SAN ANTONIO -

Amazon and Walmart have both announced they will be hiring hundred of employees in the coming months.

The new one million square foot Amazon fulfillment center in Schertz will be hiring full-time, hourly positions. Those positions to be filled in the new center will be picking, packaging and shipping customer orders.

Amazon employees receive comprehensive benefits packages that include company stock awards and health insurance.

Stock grants that full-time employees receive added an average of 9 percent to annual base pays over the past five years. In addition, Amazon's median pay inside fulfillments centers is 30 percent higher than those working in traditional retail stores.

The store will be hiring both full-time and part-time associates. "We are excited to add a new Walmart to San Antonio and bring good jobs with great career opportunities to the area," said store manager Sandra Ponce.

Any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months will be offered a job through Walmart's Veterans Welcome Home Committment.

Eligible employees, both full-time and part-time, will be provided a benefits program with a variety of health and well-being benefits, both including coverage with no lifetime maximum.
