Stephanie Gonzalez, a child life specialist at University Hospital has participated in the event for three years. She said that some kids have compromised immune systems, preventing them from celebrating Halloween outdoors like most kids.

"This is a good way for our patients to come together, dress up and celebrate Halloween," Gonzalez said. A lot of our patients can be immunocompromised, so they don't have that opportunity to celebrate Halloween outside in a normal setting. So, by providing a safe setting we can get them all together."

The event included a costume contest, trick-or-treating, games and participation from Disney characters.
