Argument in northeast San Antonio leads to shooting outside apartments
Victim shot multiple times at Park at Ventana Apartments; Shooter claims self-defense
A 23-year-old man was critically wounded after a shooting outside a Northeast San Antonio apartment complex Tuesday night.
Police said the shooting was the result of a disturbance in the parking lot of the Park at Ventana Apartments.
According to police, the victim got into an argument with a group of men who were helping a relative move out of a unit at the complex.
Witnesses said the victim was antagonizing the other men and throwing gang signs before he allegedly got into his car and tried to run the men over.
One of the men in the group pulled out a gun and fired possibly as many as ten shots at the victim's car, hitting him several times.
The men followed the car until it crashed at the corner of Pebbleshire and Sanford.
Officers at the scene said even though the man who fired the shots was claiming self-defense, they were investigating the case as an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The suspected shooter and two other men were taken into custody for questioning.
The victim was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.
