Arson to blame for Southtown house fire
Arson confirmed by SAFD; House possibly historic building
A home in the Southtown area of San Antonio caught fire early Thursday morning and fire officials believe arson is to blame.
Crews responded to the fire around 4:30 a.m. at the corner of Lavaca and Indianola streets.
Neighbors said the home was abandoned and had been boarded up for years.
San Antonio Fire Battalion Chief Gabe Ortega confirmed the fire was arson and said the home had no working utilities.
No injuries were reported and damage estimates were unknown. Neighbors said the home was possibly over 100 years old and possibly a historic building.
