Authorities investigating suspicious package left at downtown post office

SAN ANTONIO – Authorities are investigating after a suspicious package was left at the downtown post office location.

The San Antonio Police Department bomb squad and San Antonio Fire Department arson investigators responded to the scene in the 600 block of East Houston Street.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and SAPD forced the evacuation of the building and blocked off nearby roads. 

The bomb squad detonated the suspicious package.

Authorities are working to figure out who dropped off the package near the side entrance of the post office between East Travis and Houston streets

Multiple agencies responded to the scene. Officials are still working to gather more details.
