An on-duty Bexar County sheriff's deputy was involved in a three-car crash Thursday morning.

According to a statement issued by the sheriff's office, the deputy, who was in a marked patrol car heading to his job at the Bexar County Jail, was struck by a man driving a white Chevrolet Suburban around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Ruiz and Colorado streets.

The driver of that Suburban, who had two small children with him, was cited for not having a driver's license or insurance.

A third vehicle, an SUV carrying a female driver and her teenage daughter, was also struck by the Suburban.

They were taken to Baptist Hospital with minor injuries.
