After he was escorted from Steven Moy’s birthday party, Gilberto Villarreal allegedly opened fire on party guests as he and a friend drove away, witnesses said.
“Moy comes in through the door and falls on the floor,” Darian Reynosa told the jury during day two of Villarreal’s murder trial Wednesday. “There was blood everywhere and everyone was yelling."
Reynosa, the daughter of Moy’s girlfriend, testified that Villarreal and several friends showed up uninvited at the May 3, 2009, party held in honor of Moy.
She said that Moy and Villarreal had an argument and fist-fight and Moy ordered Villarreal to leave.
Another guest, Manuel Ramirez, said that moments after the fist-fight ended, Villarreal pulled a gun.
“I seen him pull out a gun and I just ... after that, everything was a blur,” Ramirez testified.
He said that Villarreal pointed the laser-equipped gun around but didn’t fire it.
Two other guests were shot and wounded when Villarreal allegedly opened fire on the partygoers as he left.
If Villarreal is convicted of murder, he faces a maximum punishment of life in prison.
Testimony is expected to continue on Thursday in Judge Philip Kazen’s 227th District Court.
