Blue Bell issues recall in some products containing chocolate chip cookie dough pieces

Company says cookie dough purchased from outside supplier

Blue Bell has issued an urgent voluntary recall due to concerns of a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The company has recalled select products containing chocolate chip cookie dough pieces purchased from an outside supplier, Aspen Hills.

Listeria can cause serious, sometimes fatal, infections in children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. 

Shipments of possibly contaminated ice cream were sent to stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana and Virginia.

No shipments were sent to any Texas stores.
