A house fire turned into a police investigation Saturday after firefighters found a burning body.
The fire call came in around 9 a.m. for a house in the 80 block of Wonder Pkwy.
Firefighters reported smoke coming from one side of the northside home. When they entered the rear of the home, they found a body.
Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and swept the house for more victims.
Police were called in and the case was handed over to homicide detectives.
Police Chief William McManus said the body appeared to have some signs of trauma.
There were no signs of forced entry into the home, and police believe this was not a random crime.
McManus said only one person lived at the home.
The name of the victim has not yet been released and the cause of death is unknown.
As of Saturday, police did not have any suspects.
