A man in his early 20s was found shot to death on the front porch of a home Wednesday afternoon on the city's East Side.

The fatal shooting happened in the 900 block of Canton Street at 1 p.m.

It remains under investigation if the victim lived at the home or if he was just visiting.

However, witnesses told police whoever shot the victim took off in a white sedan.

"Officers arrived on the scene and found a male in his early 20s dead on the steps," said San Antonio police Chief William McManus. "Multiple shots were fired, (but investigators) aren't sure how many times he was hit. The individual who is dead is a gang-member, but there is more personal issues than gang-related issues."

As of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, no arrests had been made.

The name of the victim hasn’t been released by police.
