SAN ANTONIO -

Bexar County sheriff's deputies and San Antonio police responded to a reported burglary at the Bexar County Courthouse early Friday morning.

Sheriff's deputies said two men were initially seen on a surveillance camera walking near the courthouse around 3 a.m.

Deputies said the camera caught one of the men entering the courthouse through a basement window that had been left open because of construction in the building.

BCSO investigators said an off-duty deputy working security for the construction company located the man inside the courthouse.

The man was carrying what was believed to be a piece of construction equipment, but dropped the item and ran when he saw the off-duty deputy.

Surveillance cameras then caught the man exiting the courthouse through the same window.

Sheriff's deputies, SAPD officers and a K-9 unit scoured the area for the man, but he and the other person initially seen on surveillance had not been found as of 5 a.m.

The Bexar County Courthouse was cleared and an investigation into the reported burglary was ongoing.
