A 32-year-old woman is accused of tapping into the bank account of a mentally challenged woman and stealing money while working as the woman’s caregiver.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated Amanda Sunshine Holliday stole funds from a 42-year-old woman who has the mental capacity of a child.
The affidavit stated the victim's sister notified police in August after realizing that several unusual withdrawals had been made from an account that she oversees for the victim.
She also told police that she suspected Holliday, a caregiver for the mentally challenged woman, had made the unauthorized withdrawals, the affidavit stated.
The sister said the timing of the withdrawals coincided with times when Holliday had taken the victim on outings and field trips, the affidavit stated.
Police said, in all, Holliday had withdrawn more than $3,000 from the account. Detectives later obtained surveillance video from one of the bank ATMs and said it shows Holliday making a withdrawal, the affidavit stated.
