SAN ANTONIO -

A carjacking led to a police chase and a San Antonio police officer opening fire on a suspect on the city's Northwest Side late Sunday night.

Investigators said three suspects drove a Buick up behind two other men at a car wash on Vance Jackson Road around 10 p.m., pulled a gun, beat up one of the men, and stole their car at gunpoint.

The suspects then headed down Vance Jackson toward Interstate 10 with a stolen Honda del Sol leading the Buick.

An officer tried to pull the men over, but the driver refused to stop and kept driving for about two miles towards West Avenue.

The men got out of the cars at the Arbor Point Apartments, and the suspects fled on foot, police said.

An officer arrested one of the suspects behind a convenience store.

Another suspect climbed over a privacy fence, and a police officer fired a shot at him because he said the suspect reached for what appeared to be a gun in his waistband.

The suspect was not hit, however, and ran to an apartment to hide. Police received consent to search the apartment and were able to take the man into custody.

Raymond Jiminez, 35, and Larry Martinez, 30, have each been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

The third suspect remained at-large.
