SAN ANTONIO -

Former San Antonio City Councilman Carlton Soules officially kicked off his campaign for Bexar County Judge on Sunday.

Soules recently stepped down from representing District 10 on the Northeast Side after he was re-elected last May.

Soules said he wants to help even more people in Bexar County and wants to refocus the court's efforts away from downtown to other areas of the county.

Soules also told KSAT he will look at the elimination of legacy projects like streetcars, roll back the county's debt and focus on bringing jobs to San Antonio.

Gerard Ponce is Soules opponent in Republican Primary. Incumbent judge Nelson Wolff and current county commissioner Tommy Adkisson are facing each other in the Democratic Primary. Early voting begins Tuesday.
