Investigators said they noticed some unusual activity in Charles’ bank account earlier this year. They said she made deposits totaling more than $260,000 and withdrew more than $100,000 over a seven-month period.

The director of a nonprofit that her company worked with would allegedly write check directly to Charles. Investigators said she would then pick up the checks from the director’s mailbox and deposit them into her account.

Charles is facing several felony charges.
