SAN ANTONIO – Youth football coaches from more than 20 leagues throughout South Texas gathered Saturday for the USA Football Heads Up Player Safety Clinic.
The clinic was held at Piper Bass Student Center on Jones Maltsberger Road.

Coaches were taught a series of drills focusing on proper tackling techniques.
They also learned new terminology to share with their players to keep them safe on the field.
"We're teaching them the terminology of things you're seeing here today, like buzz, hit, rip, all those things to make it easier for the kids to understand," said USA Football Master Trainer Chad Hester.
From here, the coaches will share the knowledge they learned with other coaches in their leagues, as well as players and parents.
