SAN ANTONIO -

To help you choose the perfect wine for a holiday meal or even gift, Consumer Reports called in the wine experts for a blind taste test.

They sampled 40 cabernet sauvignons and sauvignon blancs.

For cabernets they top-rated a $25 Louis Martini from Napa Valley.

However, many of the wines they liked cost $15 or less.

They named an $11 bottle of 14 Hands cabernet a "best buy."

If you want white instead, a $15 Spy Valley sauvignon blanc took the top spot.  They also liked the $12 Villa Maria Private Bin sauvignon blanc.

"If you're hosting for the holidays, as a general rule, cabernets go really well with heartier foods like roast turkey and stuffing with gravy," said Consumer  Reports' Sue Perry.

"But, on the other hand, if you're serving mostly fish on your menu, you might want to consider one o the sauvignon blancs."
