The company has been working toward the rebranding since spinning off from Valero 2 1/2 years ago.

"We've been working on it. (We) did over 2,500 customer interviews and said, 'What do you need from us?' And really the biggest need was to have convenience and to have the things they need on their way home from work," Corner Store CEO Kim Lubel said.

The idea is to help customers get in and out in less than five minutes with what they need, such as items for dinner or breakfast the next day.

San Antonio stores will be rebranded by the end of 2016. All Corner Store locations will get a makeover in the next three years.
