Multiple coyote sightings have been reported near a North East ISD elementary school.

In an email sent Tuesday, staff at Coker Elementary made parents aware of two coyote sightings reported near the school's campus in the 300 block of Heimer Road.

A coyote was spotted Monday and Tuesday near the Brook Hollow Branch Library just down the street from the school.

It is unclear what time of day the sightings occurred. Residents reported the sightings to the Coker Elementary principal.

The school contacted the city which sent personnel to the campus and found no evidence that coyotes have been in the area.

Still, Coker staff is asking parents to be cautious. "We just want them to keep a watchful eye," said NEISD spokesperson, Aubrey Chancellor. "We want them to talk to their kids about the dangers and if they see something they think is a coyote not to come in contact with it."

Chancellor added that some students walk from Coker to the library after school.

If parents want to pick their child up instead or make any changes to their after school routine or transportation, Chancellor says call the school to let Coker staff know.
