City of San Antonio crews were busy Monday preparing for the New Year's Eve bash downtown.
Among the preps, setting up rides and food tents.
"We have food, we have carnival games, carnival rides. We have something for all the kids from 2 to 102," said Bill Drain, executive producer of New Year's Eve Celebrate San Antonio.
There will be 15 musical acts on several different stages spanning nearly 100 acres, Drain said.
"Vinyl 45 is going to open up," Drain said. They're gonna take us back to the 50's, 60's, 70's and then we're gonna have a couple of hit groups that play the 80's, 90's, and 2000's. We have music for everybody.
After producing the New Year's Eve party for 14 years, Drain promises something a little different this year for the fireworks show.
To accomodate an estimated crowd of 250,000 people headed downtown to ring in 2014, the following streets around Hemisfair Park will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday:
- Alamo Street from Market Street to Cesar Chavez Boulevard will be shut down.
- Nueva Street from Alamo Street to Presa Street will also be closed for the holiday.
- Citizens are encouraged to plan ahead in navigating the downtown area.
Downtown Tuesday Free parking will be suspended for the event.
There will be parking at meters, and in garages and downtown lots for posted prices, but not the usual free parking that is available downtown on Tuesday nights.
