3 teens face organized crime charge in car burglary case

Justin Perez, 18, and 19-year-olds Justin Melton, Stanton Koehne arrested

Three teenagers are accused of carefully planning out a series of car burglaries in south Bexar County.

Justin Perez, 18; and Justin Melton and Stanton Koehne, both 19, were charged Wednesday with engaging in organized criminal activity.

Koehne and Perez originally were arrested March 8 after Bexar County sheriff's deputies responded to a call about suspicious people in a south Bexar County neighborhood.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that a witness told deputies that he saw four people run away from the scene of a car burglary.

After deputies stopped a car similar to one at the scene of the crime, they found Koehne and Perez inside, the affidavit stated.

Deputies said Koehne began telling them details about the alleged crime spree, saying that they had burglarized several vehicles and that he had some of the stolen property in the trunk of his car, the affidavit stated.

Koehne also told them Melton and a fourth person were involved, the affidavit stated. Detectives said they later found surveillance video showing Melton in a store, using a credit card that was taken from one of the vehicles, the affidavit stated.

In addition to the organized criminal activity charge, Melton faces a charge of credit card abuse.
