Cash reward offered for teen wanted in NW side burglary

Giovani Norman, 17, accused of taking jewelry, cash

SAN ANTONIO – A 17-year-old suspected of breaking into a home a few miles from where he last lived is wanted for a burglary charge.

Giovani Norman is suspected of breaking into a home on the 7400 block of Garden Grove Jan. 4.

"He broke into the home, ransacked it and stole the jewelry and money belonging to the homeowner," said Lt. Frank Martinez, the San Antonio Police Department's Repeat Offender Program (ROP) director.

Martinez said officers have looked for Norman in the area of Culebra Rd. and Les Harrison, the area of Norman's last known address, but said "no one has seen him."

Norman has no criminal history as an adult.

"That tells you he has never been caught. He may be very good at what he does," said Martinez. "But he is young, so the other part of it is he's just starting out."

Martinez also said Norman has been known to carry guns, so he doesn't want anyone to approach him if they've seen him. Instead, anyone with information on his whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP. A tipster whose information leads to Norman's arrest could receive a cash reward.

Because the burglary in this case happened at 2:30 in the afternoon, Martinez offered some advice if anyone sees someone who looks like a possible burglar.

"Critical information for them to have is a description of the person. What is he wearing? Also a description of the vehicle, the color and the license plate number is very important for us to catch them in the event they flee before we get there," Martinez said.
