Castle Hills burglary suspect turns himself in after Crime Fighters report

Fernando DeLeon, 53, faces felony burglary charge

SAN ANTONIO – A man accused of stealing a large tool chest from the garage of a Castle Hills home turned himself in Tuesday, less than a day after being the focus of a KSAT 12 Crime Fighters report.

Fernando DeLeon, 53, faces a felony charge of burglary of a habitation.

Home surveillance video appeared to show DeLeon drive by a home in the 300 block of Zornia Drive on Friday morning, before turning around and stopping his sport utility vehicle in the street.

A man investigators believe to be DeLeon was then seen on the video walking into the open garage. then walking out carrying a large tool chest.

The suspect was then seen on video driving off toward West Avenue.

Castle Hills police said DeLeon turned himself in at police headquarters around 11:30 a.m.

He also had outstanding warrants for speeding, speeding in a school zone and driving with an invalid license.

Bexar County court records show DeLeon served multiple prison sentences for burglary with the intent to commit theft.

His previous arrests include assault, family violence, criminal mischief and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to county records.
