Fugitive featured on KSAT-12 found hiding in motel

Michael Ray De La Garza, 27, accused of skipping bond

SAN ANTONIO – He was one step ahead of officers for more than a year, but one week after Michael Ray De La Garza was featured on KSAT-12, he was finally taken into custody.

De La Garza, 27, had been wanted since March 2015 for violating conditions of his bond - including cutting off an ankle monitor that was tracking his whereabouts.

A story on KSAT-12 Tuesday was shared more than 1,000 times, leading to tips to the US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Deputy Chris Bozeman said they tracked down De La Garza at a hotel near Culebra Rd. and Loop 410 this afternoon.

De La Garza is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child. He is now being jailed without bond.
