Remains found in Guadalupe County identified as SA missing woman

Sarah Gaitain, 24, missing since October

SAN ANTONIO – When Sarah Gaitan, 24, disappeared from San Antonio in October 2015, her family likely had no idea she'd be found more than 30 miles away in Marion, Texas.

Friday, the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office said it had identified remains found by a farmer on March 2 as Gaitan.

The mother of four was last seen near Austin Highway. Her skeletal remains were found in a field.

In March, the farmer told deputies he was fertilizing his field when an employee saw a human skull. A search turned up other bones nearby.

Deputies thought the remains could have been there between two months and two years.

Investigators are trying to determine how she died. Anyone with information can contact GCSO Sergeant Zachary McBride at 830-379-1224, Ext 21, or by email at Zachary.mcbride@co.guadalupe.tx.us.
