Despite the Powerball’s popularity, the data showed San Antonians have won the most prizes by playing scratch off games over the same time period.

There have been 10,895 scratch off winners in San Antonio from 2010 to May 2016, by far the most than any other game.

San Antonio has also seen its fair share of winners compared to the rest of the state. The following numbers show the percentage of Texas winners from San Antonio over the same time period.

  • 7 percent of all winners in Texas for scratch off games. (155,327 total)
  • Nearly 6 percent of winners in Texas for Mega Millions. (2,565 total)
  • 6.1 percent of winners in Texas for Texas Lotto. (6,747 total)

As players shell out cash to play tonight’s Powerball, its important to note the chance of winning Powerball is incredibly small, at 292.2 million-to-1.

But players have much better odds, of about 1 in 25, of winning smaller prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million.

If anyone matches the five balls and red Powerball in tonight’s drawing, it will be the game’s first jackpot winner since May 7.
