KILLEEN, Texas -

A man who deputies say walked out of a courtroom prior to his trial on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon has been arrested.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said Christopher Jones, 31, was taken into custody in Killeen, Texas, by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

Last week Jones, who deputies said was free on bond, was about to go on trial on a charge of attempted murder in the 166th District Court at the Bexar County Courthouse.

Jones asked for and received permission to step outside the courtroom and make a phone call. Instead, deputies said he walked out of the Bexar County Courthouse and removed his ankle monitor.
