Defenders Update: Disabled veteran now has Medicare coverage

James Moore, 67, contacted KSAT 12 after waiting for coverage

SAN ANTONIO – Disabled veteran James Moore, 67, said he is now covered under Medicare Part B and Tricare just two weeks after telling the KSAT 12 Defenders he had been trying to enroll for a year.

Tricare is a supplemental insurance part of the Military Health System.

It allows active duty and retired service members and their families to seek care when they are away from a military hospital or clinic.

Now that he is covered, Moore said he is planning to take a vacation, something he said he was fearful to do while uninsured.
