The torrential rain over the Memorial Day weekend did increase the Edwards Aquifer by 17 feet, but Anne Hayden with the San Antonio Water System says that's not good enough to get San Antonians out of Stage 2 Outdoor Watering restrictions.
"The rains have been more focused in and around the San Antonio area (but) if we look to the area West of us where there is a large agricultural use, they still haven't gotten significant rains," said Hayden.
Under Stage 2, residents can only use their sprinkler system or soaker hose once a week from 7-11 a.m. and 7-11 p.m. on your designated day, depending on the last digit of your address.
During Stage 2, watering with a handheld hose is permitted anytime on any day of the week.
San Antonio has been in a nearly 2 1/2-year drought.
Hopefully, experts say, June will live up to its historical reputation as the third wettest month of the year.
"We've gotten water that has helped us recover from the very dry months in 2012 but it's still dry," said Hayden.
