SAN ANTONIO -

A Devine Middle School teacher is recovering and the teen who stabbed her is now facing serious charges.

The Devine police department says the 13 year-old boy is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in a weapons free zone, and is at the Atascosa County Juvenile Detention Center.

Devine police say officers rushed to the school just after noon Friday for a reported stabbing.

They say when they got there they found the teacher stabbed.

Investigators say the boy attacked and stabbed the woman in the band hall.

She was transported to the hospital for treatment of her stab wounds.

Police and the Devine school superintendent did not comment on the circumstances of the stabbing attack.
