SAN ANTONIO – The disappearance of a San Antonio man is turning into a homicide investigation. Andres Marquez Barrera, 46, was last seen on Sept. 1 in the 8000 block of Sagebrush Lane.
Investigators on Padre Island announced earlier this week that skeletal remains were found on a beach Sunday. The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office tested those remains. The officer positively identified the remains through fingerprints as Barrera’s.

The San Antonio Police Department’s homicide detectives are now looking into Barrera’s death. There is no word on suspects or a motive.
