SAN ANTONIO -

A 49-year-old man identified as Charles Cline is facing a charge of burglary in connection with a break-in at a north Bexar County church, and detectives tied him to the crime through DNA evidence left behind at the scene, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Someone broke into Crossbridge Community Church in the 25700 block of Overlook Parkway back in August and attempted to remove a 60-inch flat screen television from a wall, the affidavit stated. The TV was damaged in the process.

Bexar County sheriff's detectives also found blood smeared on a wall of the church, the affidavit stated. DNA evidence from the blood later proved to be a match for samples from Cline which were already in a law enforcement database, the affidavit stated.

Detectives also obtained surveillance video from the church and showed it to Cline, who admitted he is the man in those images, the affidavit stated. However, according to the affidavit, Cline said he is not responsible because he was "high on drugs" and the time and doesn't remember any of it.
