SAN ANTONIO -

A Hummer was hit by a train near San Antonio International Airport just before 9 a.m. on Monday.

The driver of the Hummer was taken to the hospital after his parents came to pick him up.

Police believe the 21-year-old driver was trying to beat the train at the crossing at Wetmore Road and MacArthur View.

Officers say the driver maneuvered around a Northeast ISD school bus that was stopped at the railroad crossing.

His Hummer was clipped by the train's engine.

The impact totaled the SUV and knocked down the railroad crossing arm.

The driver refused to be taken by ambulance to the hospital so his parents ended up taking him there.

There was some minor damage to the school bus, but there were no children on board and the driver was not hurt.
