SAN ANTONIO -

A driver was killed in a high-speed crash early Monday morning on the East Side, San Antonio police said.

The wreck occurred just before 2:30 a.m. on Martin Luther King Drive near Interstate 10 East.

San Antonio police said a car was traveling down MLK Drive when the driver lost control for an unknown reason and slammed into a concrete pillar.

The driver died at the scene and a woman in the car suffered multiple injuries, police said.

She was rushed to San Antonio Military Medical Center for treatment, but police did not update her condition.

Police said the driver was not wearing a seat belt and speed was a contributing factor to the crash. The driver's name has not been released.
