Traffic on the Loop 410 South access road near Highway 90 was delayed Tuesday morning after a car struck a fire hydrant.

San Antonio police said the accident occurred around 2 a.m. when the driver of a white Ford Mustang lost control of the car around a curve.

The Mustang slammed into the fire hydrant, but the driver was able to flee on foot before police arrived.

The crash caused water to spill onto the frontage road and police were forced to shut down one lane while SAWS crews attempted to repair the hydrant.

Police searched for the driver, but were not able to locate anyone in the area. No other vehicles were believed to be involved in the crash.
