SAN ANTONIO -

A driver plowed eight feet into the front of a Tink-A-Tako restaurant on the Northwest Side early Wednesday morning.

San Antonio police said the driver crashed a pickup truck through the front doors of the Tink-A-Tako in the 3900 block of Wurzbach Road just before 2 a.m.

The restaurant was left with a large hole in the entry way and several shattered windows, broken tables and other damage.

Police said the man behind the wheel was speeding through the parking lot and trying to make a U-turn between aisles when he crashed, then tried to back the truck out of the restaurant but got stuck.

"They hit-and-ran it? Wow. I don't understand why people do stuff like that. That's crazy to me," said Devon Manz, a Tink-A-Tako regular.

Damage estimates were not known Wednesday afternoon and there were no reported injuries because the restaurant was closed at the time, police said.

Manz and several others regulars visited the taqueria across the street for their morning taco, but welcomed the news that Tink-A-Tako planned to reopen on Thursday.

"That is actually really good news, especially for the people that go there as often as they do," Manz said.
