SAN ANTONIO -

The driver of a white pickup truck was seen "doing donuts and hitting everything in sight" during rush hour traffic along Tezel Road near Culebra Road, said witnesses.

"He looked like he was trying to kill anybody in his way," said Lupe Tovar, the manager of a Las Palapas on Tezel.

Restaurant employees caught some of the terrifying moments on video.

Just across from the restaurant, witness Theodore Davis said the driver repeatedly slammed into another truck to push it into a Blockbuster Video while customers were inside.

"He pushed it once, then pushed it twice, then got it completely in on the third try," David said.

"The whole time I was just praying 'help me God,'" said Denisse Vasquez, who was inside the Blockbuster with her family.

It was her family's truck that was shoved into the store.

Moments earlier, the driver rammed into numerous other cars, plowed down the Las Palapas sign and even uprooted a tree.

"He came out this way and smashed through two cars, like a bulldozer. He ran straight thru them," said Davis.

"He never let his foot off the gas," Tovar added. She says the driver made eye contact with her as she stood outside the restaurant and then he drove toward her, but she got out of the way.

The truck came to a stop between Blockbuster and HEB at Tezel and Culebra after it was too damaged to go any further.

Davis says the unidentified driver waited in his truck for police to arrest him.

Police say, amazingly, the driver was the only one injured. He was taken to University Hospital with a broken collarbone.

Lots of cash and pills were found inside his truck. Police said the driver was under the influence of prescription narcotics and will be charged with DWI.

It's unclear whether he could face upgraded charges.

"I just keep seeing it over and over again in my head. I've never seen anything like it," Vasquez said.
