An East Side resident has been arrested for allegedly beating up and robbing his own son after other relatives refused to give him money. Miguel Rios, 37, was arrested Thursday on a charge of robbery.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Rios forced his way into the home where his 18-year-old son lives Wednesday, tackled the teen, punched him in the face and took his wallet which contained about $400.
The teen said he tried to stop his father from leaving the home by grabbing his shirt, but Rios was able to run away, the affidavit stated.
Relatives told police Rios has a drug problem and the attack happened after he had tried, unsuccessfully, to get them to give him money, the affidavit stated.
