It's time to get back to school, and all over town, kids, parents and teachers are preparing to start a new year.
The tax holiday has passed and new school supplies are getting packed up and ready.
But, back to school is about more than new clothes and new classes.
As the reading, writing and arithmetic lessons start, parents need to keep high standards for kids back at home, too.
Teachers and administrators have a rough job making sure our kids reach their fullest potential.
But, at the end of the school day, parents need to stay actively engaged.
Kids have to do their homework and prepare for tomorrow's lesson. They need you to read with them, check their work, empower their social interactions and reinforce what they're getting in school.
Parents play the most important role in a child's school year by providing support and encouragement. Be an involved parent and show your child that school matters.
