SAN ANTONIO – A family and their newborn baby escaped a fire in their home Sunday afternoon.
The fire started around 2:30 p.m. in the 7100 block Westville Drive.

The family was standing outside when firefighters arrived. Crews quickly knocked down the flames, but not before the fire caused significant damage.
Firefighters said the home was nearly a total loss.
The couple told first responders there was a candle burning in one of the rooms when the fire began.
