Family and friends gathered with balloons and good wishes for Tatyana Babineaux's 10th birthday Saturday, but Tatyana was not there.
This gathering was to remember the girl killed by a hit-and-run driver weeks before she would have turned 10.
Gina Babineaux wrote messages of love on balloons before a small crowd of family and friends released them to the skies over Hardberger Park.
She said she still hurts, but will always remember her daughter as someone who loved life and loved people.
She also said she wants to make sure other children are safe as they walk to school, as Tatyana did the morning a driver ran her down and left the scene.
Federal agents arrested 39 year-old Isidro Espinosa-Solis at the U.S.-Mexico border.
He's now in the Bexar County Jail charged in connection with Tatyana's death.
