Suspect in San Marcos double murder found dead
Sister of San Marcos murder victim speaks out; Jesse Robledo from San Antonio
The alleged suspect in a double murder in San Marcos Thursday morning was found dead in the Texas Hill Country.
According to police, Daniel Brewster Stillwell,23, was wanted for capital murder in the deaths of Hailey Nicholls, 22, of Kingwood, Texas; and Jesse Robledo, 27, of San Antonio.
The pair were found shot to death inside Nicholls’ bedroom around 12:38 a.m. after officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Executive Townhomes in the 300 block of Craddock Avenue.
"It's just been crazy and unbelievable. I found out in the morning,” said Robledo’s sister Andrea Uribe.
Stillwell fled in a vehicle and was on the run for much of the day Thursday. His car was found at the bottom of a cliff at the Devil’s Backbone, an area in the rural Texas Hill Country, around 1 p.m.
According to police, Stillwell and Nicholls, both Texas State students, recently ended their relationship and Nicholls was now dating Robledo.
Uribe said the outpouring of support is helping her and her family get through this difficult time.
"He was a really good person. He had so many friends and family come to the house - like tons of friends, tons of family, so obviously he was loved by everybody," Uribe said.
Still, Uribe knows nothing will replace her little brother. "It's horrible. He was my only sibling,” Uribe said.
Robledo’s family planned to start making funeral arrangements in the coming days.
