SAN ANTONIO -

The San Antonio Fire Department battled a large structure fire at an industrial warehouse near the Alamodome on Friday morning.

At least 31 units, including Hazmat, were called to the 300 block of Indiana to fight a fire that broke out around 9:40 a.m. at a business called Lone Star Tool Solutions.

By 10 a.m., smoke could be seen towering over the Alamodome.

"My boyfriend was calling and texting me because he was worried because he saw two more fire trucks on top of the three that had already passed," said nearby resident Adrianna Garcia.

The massive response was prompted by concern over the combustible materials stored at the Lone Star Tool Solutions building.

"Inside, were acetylene tanks, some propane tanks (and) also around the outside (were) some oxygen tanks. They use a lot of paint (and) paint thinner, and it's because of that type of material that this building stored that there was some concern," said San Antonio Fire Department spokesman Christian Bove.

Many of the tanks carrying flammable gas were outside the building and firefighters were able to move them further away from the structure early on.

All 15 employees inside at the time got out safely.

Emergency personnel utilized the reverse 911 system to get the word out to area residents.

"In this case, it wasn't, 'Get out of your house,' it was, 'Stay inside, close the windows,' just because of the chemicals that were brewing," Bove said.

Arson investigators were on scene Friday morning, as is protocol with any fire that size, Bove said.

Part of the investigation will include whether the business had an emergency plan on file with the city and also whether they are required to have one.

There were no reported injuries to employees, nearby residents or fire crews, themselves.
