SAN ANTONIO -

Fire destroyed a home in far north Bexar County on Wednesday morning.

According to Ken Jarvis, public information officer for the Bexar-Bulverde Volunteer Fire Department, the fire started at 7 a.m. on the back porch of a home in the 25900 block of Hootananny near Camp Bullis.

Firefighters were battling the fire when flames shot up to the attic and the roof suddenly began to collapse, Jarvis said. Firefighters were able to get out of the home safely.

No injuries were reported and no one was home at the time.

Jarvis said the fire originated in an area where the homeowner had just installed a new air conditioning unit, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
