SAN ANTONIO -

A fire caused extensive damage at a near Northeast Side home Thursday evening.

Firefighters responded to the fire just after 7 p.m. in the 400 block of Gardina Street.

Firefighters said the home was filled with flames upon their arrival.

Extra fire crews were sent to the home, which is standard protocol with hot temperatures, and the fire was extinguished quickly.

"We did have some downed power lines as well on one of the fences which added to the danger. CPS responded quickly and cut the power to the house," said Capt. Robert Sepulveda with the San Antonio Fire Department.

Fire officials said no one was inside the home at the time of the fire and damages were unknown.

The fire started in a back bedroom, but the cause was under investigation, fire officials said.
