A former Laredo high school teacher was sentenced Wednesday to 52 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release for possessing child pornography on his computer.
Jorge Valadez, 53, pleaded guilty on Nov. 13 to having possession of the pornography between June 1-Sept.13.
An investigator was able to download two videos tracked to Valadez, who was sharing his computer's files on a peer-to-peer network. Following the discovery of the files, federal authorities executed search and seizure warrants for Valadez's house, car, computers and electronic devices.
Valadez, at that time, admitted to agents he downloaded the pornography images and videos throughout the past five years out of curiosity.
Agents found four videos with the pornographic images of children and Valadez also admitted to "cleaning" his computer before the search and seizure.
“By conducting these types of investigations, Homeland Security Investigations is taking child predators off the Internet, off the streets, and putting them behind bars,” said special agent in charge, Janice Ayala, HSI San Antonio. "Targeting these crimes against children is a high priority for HSI. We will continue to dedicate law enforcement resources to identify and bring to justice child predators that traumatize and victimize children."
